Adjustment screws are essential components in precision machinery, offering versatile applications across factory automation, jigs, fixtures, and precision instruments. Available in various types, including full-threaded, hex, and knurled options, these screws come in sizes ranging from M3 to M24 and lengths from 8.5 mm to 150 mm, with both coarse and fine thread pitches to meet different adjustment needs. Manufactured from durable materials like S45C steel and SUS304 stainless steel, they ensure longevity and resistance to corrosion. Guidelines for Selecting Adjustment Screws

Selecting the right adjustment screws (also called leveling screws or leveling feet) is crucial for ensuring stable, level, and safe support of machinery or work tables—especially in industrial facilities or production areas with uneven flooring.

  • Load Capacity per Foot: Determine the total weight of the equipment and how it will be distributed among all feet. For example, if a machine weighs 500 kg and is supported by four feet, each one should bear at least 125 kg. It’s advisable to include a safety margin of 20–30%.
  • Screw Size and Length: Choose a screw length that allows for sufficient adjustment range, depending on the floor condition. Check whether the equipment uses tapped holes or through-holes and match the screw diameter accordingly (e.g., M10, M12, M16, M20, etc.). Fine thread adjustment screws are preferred for precise adjustments.
  • Material of Screw and Base: Select materials that match the operating environment. For instance:
    • Zinc-Plated Steel: Economical and offers basic rust protection.
    • Stainless Steel SUS304: Excellent corrosion resistance and strength.
    • Plastic or Nylon Base: Helps absorb vibrations and prevents floor marks.
  • Need for Rubber Pad Base: If the machine is on a slippery surface or requires vibration isolation, choose leveling screws with rubber pad bases. These help dampen vibrations, reduce noise, and absorb impact.
  • Top or Bottom Adjustment?: Some positioning screws allow for top-side adjustments using a hex wrench, ideal for machines with low-clearance bases or hard-to-reach underside areas.
  • Lock Nut?: When stable positioning is essential, use a lock nut to hold the adjustment screw in place. This prevents loosening caused by vibrations or repeated movement.
