Question: Can a 100V heater be used with a voltage less than 100V
Answer: It is not recommended. Heater 100V should be supplied with 100V
Question: How can I determine the wattage(W) required for the Cartridge Heater?
Answer: Calculate with the following formula, by using the weight of heating product, the specific heat of heating product, the increased temperature, and the heating time until the setting temperature:
Wattage required for the Cartridge Heater (kW) = the weight of heating product (kg) × specific heat of heating product (kcal/kg°C) × the increased temperature (°C) / 860× heating time (h) × heat efficiency (n)
Question: When selecting the Cartridge Heater, what is recommended thermal efficiency (n) for heater?
Answer: In case of heating with hot plate in general usage, suitable value is about 0.2∼0.5
It is difficult to calculate the Efficiency precisely because it varies by heat-retention, insulation, clearance arrangement of heaters, etc.
Unless usage in bad environment such as many heats leak out occurred, suitable efficiency for heater is 0.2
Question: What is the longest life span of Cartridge Heater?
Answer: The life span of the heater largely depends on the operating environment.
However, as long as the whole heat generating part covered inside the heater block and using within the operating temperature, it will last very long time.
Question: How much temperature can Lead wire of Cartridge Heater endure?
Answer: As standard, it can endure temperature up to 180°C, depending on type of lead wire.
The most excellent heat durable lead wire is Mica Polyimide-Wound Silica + Nickel Coated Copper Wire, which can endure heat up to 400°C

Answer: • Thermostats (THRM)
Thermal sensor located within the L-dimension in Drawing. The measuring mechanism structure is temperature can be measured by the expansion of oil inside the heat sensitive part. Please use this heat sensitive part against the object to be measured.
• Bimetal Thermostats (MBMS)
The bimetal part which made from bimetal disc.
Question: Please explain how to select Cartridge Heater for using with Heater temperature controllers.
Answer: It is recommended to select Cartridge Heater considering to W (electric power) and V (Voltage) then select product that has resistance within the resistance of temperature controllers unit (Maximum)
Question: Do plug and lead wire attached with Heater temperature controllers?
If yes, can I use it by connecting to a normal outlet?
Answer: No plug and lead wire attached with product.
It can connect to the normal outlet; however, plug has to be selected depending on usage condition (100V or 200V)
Question: Do you offer the Heater temperature controllers with timer function for temperature increasing?
Answer: No Heater temperature controllers with timer function.
Question: What kind of display will appear on the LCDs monitor if the thermocouple of Heater temperature controllers is disconnected?

When alarm function ON, electric circuit will be switching ON-OFF.
Question: Are there any precautions before mounting the Cartridge Heater?
Answer: Please be reminded that the whole heat generating part must be covered inside the hot plate.
Do not let the heaters run idle in the atmosphere. If the heat generating part of the heater is operated out of the heated objects, the wire may break or ignite due to abnormal heating.
Question: I am in trouble with lead wire of Cartridge Heaters, it is easily disconnected.
Answer: The root cause of disconnection usually be the bending of lead wire due to reciprocating moving.
In case of application with reciprocating moving, it is recommended to put on angle bracket or terminal between heaters and temperature controllers that can prevent the root of lead wire from moving.
Question: Can the terminal of Cartridge Heater be bent?
Answer: Terminal is rigid so it cannot be bent.
Please check on Cartridge Heaters - Flex-Resistant (MCHKD) which is more resistant against bending.
Question: Can I connect 2 pieces of 100V type of Cartridge Heaters in series connection with a 200V power supply?
Answer: It is applicable.
Question: Please explain how to install the Rubber Heaters.
Answer: Please remove the adhesive tube at the end of tip and wrap up with film.
Keep it away from direct contact with the air or in high temperature and humidity because it may be hardened, so it is recommended to store it in a cool and dark place such as a refrigerator.
Question: Can I wrap the Rubber Heaters around the pipe to heat it?
Answer: It is applicable. Rubber Heaters is suitable for fitting with the heated surface and generating the uniform heat over the entire heated surface. Size of Rubber Heaters may not match with some object, so it is necessary to wrap it on heated object with appropriate method.
Question: The shortest of L-dimension of Ribbon Heaters is 1000mm. Is it possible to cut it or can the Ribbon Heaters be stacked up and used as double layer?
Answer: Neither cut nor stacked up are not applicable.
Because the Nichrome wire may be damaged.
Question: Is the hot air generator a product that keeps generating the hot air stably after setting up the temperature within the temperature control range?
And also, it be connected with Thermocouple for control?
Answer: Set up temperature will be stable controlled. The Hot air generator can be connected with Thermocouple, but external air may flow inside and cause a little temperature fluctuation.
In addition, it can be controlled by Thermocouple, since temperature is measured outside, so it needs the Temperature controllers as well, therefore, you need to prepare both Thermocouple and Temperature controllers.
Question: Can I measure the temperature of Hot air generator from outer part?
Answer: No. Please measure the temperature at the panel of Hot air generator.
Question: Can Temperature sensors be installed on moving part?
Question: In case Temperature sensors need to be inserted inside the heated object, what size of insertion hole should I boring on the heated object?
And how deep should I insert the sheath inside the heated object?
Answer: Insertion hole size should be larger than sheath size approximately sheath size + 0.1㎜
For insertion depth, it should be inserted until the tip of sheath reach the bottom of hole.
Question: Can the tip of Temperature sensors be using in bending condition?
Answer: No.
Although material can be bent, but it is not recommended to be used in bending condition because it may affect to accuracy of temperature measurement.
Question: Is there any problem if the capillary tube of Thermostats (THRM) contact to metal?
Answer: No problem.
However, capillary is filled with oil, so please use it carefully.
Question: While installing the Thermostat, is it possible to install without Boxes for Thermostat (THRMB)?
Answer: It is possible to install without box, but as for part protection and stability, it is recommended to use with Boxes for Thermostats
Question: Can 1 unit of Heater temperature controllers connect with many heaters at the same time?
Answer: 1 unit of Heater temperature controllers can control up to 2 heaters.
In case of using with 3 or more heaters, it is necessary to modify by adding terminal and connect to other heaters.
However, please be careful not to use over the rated voltage (V) and rated current (A)
Question: Can Heaters of other manufacturer applicable to connect with MISUMI Heater temperature controllers?
Answer: Applicable.

Question: In case that Heater temperature controllers was malfunction, can relay recognize the output signal from it?
And if temperature drop down below the lower limit, can relay be remained with the previous signal instead of return?
Answer: Relay cannot recognize signal from the malfunction Heater temperature controllers, so we recommend providing spare part such as Thermostat.
And if temperature drop down below the lower limit, signal hold function will turn ON so that relay can be remained with the previous signal.
Question: Heater temperature controllers (MTCS, MTCD, MTCRM) has 2 lead wires for connection. Is there any difference between them in term of usage?
