A crimp terminal is a connection part used by attaching to the end of a cable. There are various types such as bare crimp terminals, insulated crimp terminals, plug-in crimp terminals, etc. The main shapes are round, Y-type, sleeve-ring type, blade type, etc. There are two types: crimping using a dedicated tool, and connecting to the terminal block by insertion., therefore select the type according to the application and connection target. The structure and characteristics of the crimp terminals differ depending on the product, and there are various products available such as those with heat resistance that can be used for heater wires and heating wires, those that have guides that allow the cable to be inserted smoothly into the cylinder, those that are tin-plated and corrosion-resistant, etc. It is widely used for applications that require mating, such as internal wiring of industrial equipment, measuring instrument, FA control equipment, etc., connection between equipment, various electrical work, etc.
Insulated solderless, rod-shaped, and vinyl/tube (BVA type) terminals for copper wire. *Twisted wires combined into a single-track line for easy insertion and removal.
Answer: Crimp terminal connectors (also called crimp terminals or just terminals) are a type of electrical connector used to join wires to other wires, terminals on a circuit board, or other electrical components. They work by crimping, which is a process of mechanically compressing the metal connector around the stripped end of a wire to create a permanent and gas-tight connection.
Question: What are the advantages of using crimp terminals?
Answer: Reliable connections: When crimped correctly, crimp terminals provide secure and reliable connections with low electrical resistance.
Quick and easy to use: Crimping is a relatively fast and simple process compared to soldering.
No heat required: Crimping doesn't require heat, making it suitable for situations where heat is undesirable or unsafe.
Variety of types and sizes: Crimp terminals come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and materials to suit different applications.
Question: Wire crimping and Soldering. Which one is better?
Answer: Wire crimping” has pros in that it is easy to install, the electricity can flow smoothly, and it can be used with various equipments. But the cons are that it costs money due to the tools used in the process. On the other hand, “Soldering” uses Flux to make electrical contact, which is cheaper than wire crimping. But the wire and contact point have less flexibility. If you use soldering in equipment that causes vibration, there is a risk of broken wires.
Question: How many Wires can crimp together?
Answer: It is not recommended for pair multiple wires in one crimp terminal when wire crimping. Because crimp terminals are designed to work with a specific size of wire, when multiple wires are combined in one crimp, the holding force is reduced, resulting in heat at the terminal.
Question: Should you twist the wire before crimping?
Answer: If stranded wire is used in wire crimping, The twisted method of copper wire before wire crimping will increase the surface density. The chance that a wire terminal will be loose or fall out after crimping is going to be reduced. and the risk of an electrical accident is also decreased.
Question: Can you use plier for wire crimping?
Answer: It is not recommended to use pliers to crimp the wire except “Wire Crimper”. because there is a chance that the wire terminal will be loose or damaged, which is called “Bad Contact”. And when the equipment is running, the heat at the terminal is going to increase more than usual because electricity cannot flow smoothly. It will cause the ark to and melted wires. Therefore, should study how to use the crimping pliers properly to prevent the danger that may occur.
