General Purpose Panels
General purpose panels are panels used in building circuit boards, such as switchboards, power distribution boards and control panels, by attaching electrical components and communications devices to them. They are made of wood, aluminum, steel, bronze, etc. Wood panels run the risk of corrosion, but allows for easy alterations. Aluminum panels are less strong than steel panels, but are comparatively easier to make alterations to and less prone to rusting, making them suitable for a wider range of applications. Steel panels are difficult to modify and rust easily, but feature better strength. Each material has its set of characteristics and it is important to select the product that suits the application. Panels should also be checked for size and thickness to match the devices and components to be installed. For post-processing, panels with weather-resistant properties are suitable. Panels with anodizing should be used to prevent unwanted surface scratching.
