Stack Lights

Stack light are indicators that indicate the operating status of machinery, systems, etc. using multiple colored indicator lights. Many display units have 1 to 5 tiers of vertical types with freely changeable color arrangement, and the number of colors to be used, the stacking order, and the number of tiers can be set according to the device or system. Light sources include LEDs and light bulbs, and body shapes include round, square, pole types, etc. In addition to the normal lighting function, there are those that flash or rotate, others that emit a buzzer, others that can display processes such as operating time and remaining battery level, etc. Many products have antifouling properties that can be used in factories where oil mist or dust is generated, have impact resistance that is suitable for installation in equipment with vibration, etc., and there are products with energy-savings in mind.

Function and Application

A stack light (also known as a tower light or signal tower light) serves as a highly visible status indicator in industrial automation and machinery environments. By using different colors—commonly red, yellow, green, blue, and white—they provide instant visual communication of a machine’s operating state, warning conditions, or maintenance needs. This makes them an essential type of machine signal light for factories, assembly lines, and process monitoring.

Light Source Options

  • LED Tower Lights: Energy-efficient, long-lasting, and suitable for high-visibility environments.
  • Bulb-Based Stack Lights: Traditional option, still used in applications where easy bulb replacement is preferred.

LED-based signal tower lights are now the standard for energy savings and durability.

Operating Modes

Different models of stack lights provide a range of functionalities:

  • Steady Lighting – Standard continuous illumination.
  • Flashing/Rotating Modes – For urgent alerts or safety warnings.
  • Buzzer Integration – Combines visual and audible signaling.

Shapes and Mounting Styles

To suit different installations, stack lights are available in multiple shapes and designs:

  • Round Stack Lights – Classic cylindrical design, widely used in industrial settings.
  • Square Lights – Compact design, ideal where space constraints require a square light body.
  • Pole Type or Other Shapes – Provide mounting flexibility for specialized applications.

Durability and Environmental Resistance

Modern tower lights are engineered for industrial use with features such as:

  • Antifouling Properties – Prevent contamination in environments with oil mist or dust.
  • Impact Resistance – Withstand vibration in heavy machinery.
  • Weather & Heat Resistance – Reliable performance in demanding conditions.
