Product Description

A board-to-cable, cable-to-cable connector with a lock (2.5-mm pitch). The inner locking type mechanism prevents the connector from disconnecting due to impact.

Main Features of DF1E Series 2.5‑mm Pitch Board-to-Cable Connector With Lock

Added full-lock function

The full-lock mechanism features an inner lock system. This mechanism prevents disengagements due to unexpected external shock.

Increase in crimping contact fixation force and semi-insertion prevention

The double lock is activated for the usage method in which stress is applied to the cable, to increase crimping contact fixation force, and to prevent the semi-insertion (incomplete insertion) of the crimping contact.

Adopts a molded lance

A molded lance has been adopted as the contact lances may become deformed due to terminal entanglement after crimping.

Prevents mis-insertion

Equipped with a mechanism which completely prevents reverse insertion and insertion between dissimilar contacts.

Solder crack prevention measures

Glass-reinforced resin has been adopted for the pin header as a measure against solder cracking caused by heat shrinkage.

Potting (resin filler) compatible

Pin headers in which potting is possible are available in the product lineup. Low-profile (in-house comparison) models with a mounting height of 19.8 mm (no retainer) compatible with potting of up to 8 mm are available.

Reduced production equipment costs

Because DF1B series crimping contacts are used for the female contacts, there is no need to invest in new equipment. However, if applying a retainer with a wire of AWG#22 or higher, please use DF1E crimp contacts. Female in-line crimp contacts are used in combination with DF1B applicators so there is no need to investment in new equipment.

Wide range of applications

Circuit board soldered DIP types and in-line types with a wide range of applications are available within the same product series.

Product Usage Precautions

1. Recommended soldering conditions

Flow conditions for automatic soldering devices - Solder temperature: 260°C, Soldering time: within 10 seconds
Manual soldering conditions - Soldering iron temperature: 300°C, Soldering time: within 3 seconds

2. Cleaning conditions

If washing with potting-compatible headers, be aware that any residual cleaning solutions within the connector may cause malfunctions to occur.

3. Precautions

Forcible extraction of connectors may cause connector damage to occur. If extraction is difficult, gently push in the connector and engage the lock to facilitate extraction.
Depending on the wiring layout within equipment, tension may be applied to the wires, possibly causing the contacts to become disengaged. The manufacturer recommends the use of a retainer when this happens.
Incomplete insertion of the contact can be prevented by mounting a retainer; however, mounting of a retainer might not be possible when the contact protrudes beyond the socket. Insert the contact securely and then mount the retainer.
If the potting process is implemented, be sure to fill the connector with resin with due consideration given to the surface tension of the resin.
Depending on the manufacturing lot of this product or its storage state following manufacture, the color/hue of the product may change slightly. However, this does not affect performance.
