Structural features and compatible conditions

Structural features and compatible conditions

  • Widely usable for general industry.
  • Can also be used for high loads.
  • Standard belts can be used in the range of -30 to +80°C. If you want heat resistance up to 100°C, please use a heat-resistant belt.
  • The standard belt is conductive. (Electrical resistance value: 6 MΩ or less)
  • In order to prevent the belt from shifting, the tension body uses S-twist and Z-twist alternately.

Example of use

About belt installation

1. Turn off the machine's power supply

2. Confirmation in the same plane

2. Confirmation in the same plane

Adjust the X dimension so that it is as close to 0 (zero) as possible. Apply a straight edge to the side of the pulley and make sure the pair of pulleys are in the same plane.

3. Reduce the distance between axes

3. Reduce the distance between axes

Loosen the bolts such as the slide base and shorten the distance between the shafts until the belt is comfortably applied.

4. Give tension to the belt

4. Tense the belt

Align the teeth of the belt with the tooth groove of pulley and slowly pull the slide base, etc., to give tension to the belt. Since the belt is a little short when there is no tension, the belt and pulley may not be completely engaged with a pulley with a large number of teeth, so pull slowly that there is no defective part of the belt and pulley.

5. Pull the belt to the specified tension

5. Pull the belt to the specified tension

Tighten the belt so that the deflection load when the center of the belt span (the part where the belt is not applied to the pulley) is pushed in by a certain amount (span length 16/1,000) is the value calculated from the above formula.

6. Alignment readjustment

6. Alignment readjustment

With the belt stretched, please check the alignment again using the straight edge, and if there is any deviation, remove the belt and readjust.
Especially in the case of one-sided bearings, the shaft may bend during operation and the belt may bend to the opposite side of the bearing. In this case, please correct the stage parallelism of the axis by the amount of deflection in advance.

7. Firmly fix the slide base, etc., so that it does not move

8. Check the engagement

  • Slowly rotate the pulley to make sure the belt and pulley are firmly engaged. If the belt does not fit tightly, please check the following.
  • The belt is too tight or too loose
  • Abnormal outer diameter of pulley: The outer diameter has become smaller due to wear, etc.
  • The shape of the pulley and the shape of the belt do not match

How to install the tension pulley

1. Conditions for using the tension pulley

Please use the tension pulley only when it is unavoidable due to the following functions.

·When using with fixed shafts
If the tension cannot be adjusted by the distance between the shafts, please add a tension pulley to adjust the tension.

·When the number of meshing teeth of the small pulley becomes small, such as when the gear ratio is large and you want to increase the number of meshing teeth of the small pulley, or when the gear ratio is large, add a tension pulley to increase the number of meshing teeth.

2. Installation of tension pulley

Please adjust the alignment of the tension pulley accurately. Also, please attach it to the loose side while driving.

Inner tension pulley

·Inner tension pulley
When using the tension pulley from the inside, please use a pulley diameter larger than the minimum pulley diameter in the catalog.

  • The tension pulley from the inside should be on the loose side and close to the large pulley.
  • Please use a toothed pulley for the tension pulley.
Outer tension pulley

·Outer tension pulley
When using the tension pulley from the outside, please use a pulley diameter that is 20% or more larger than the minimum pulley diameter in the catalog.

  • When using the tension pulley from the outside, please make sure it is on the loose side and close to the small pulley.
  • The bending angle of the belt should be 140° or more.
  • Please use a flat pulley without a crown for the tension pulley.
  • Please avoid using the outer idler for urethane belts.

Tooth rubber / tooth tip / tooth cloth (reinforcing cloth) / tooth bottom / tooth surface / core line

Tooth rubber / tooth tip / tooth cloth (reinforcing cloth) / tooth bottom / tooth surface / core line

When the tooth cloth is worn and the rubber and core wire are exposed / When the back rubber of the belt is cracked due to increased hardness, etc. / When the classic is generated at the tooth root of the belt / When the belt side surface is damaged due to wear / tooth lacking / back wearing / core wire cutting

Cautions/prohibitions

Items to check during test run

Please test run the belt for a few minutes and check the following items. If any of the following phenomena occur, please take countermeasures.
Please never bring your hands or body close to the pulley or belt while driving. Also, please be sure to check that the belt is completely stopped and then turn off the power supply before performing inspections, etc.

  1. 1. Is the belt riding on the flange of the pulley? (Countermeasure) Adjust the alignment of the pulley.
  2. 2. Is the belt resonating? (Countermeasure) Change the initial tension (mounting tension) of the belt, or install a new pulley (flat pulley) so that the belt is lightly pressed from the back of the belt.
  3. 3. Does the belt have jumping (a phenomenon in which the teeth of the belt jump over the teeth of the pulley)? (Countermeasure) Increase the initial tension (mounting tension) of the belt. If jumping occurs even if the belt is stretched strongly, the belt may be under more force than the allowable transmission, so reconsider the design.
  4. 4. Does the belt tension drop abnormally? (Countermeasure) Check if the slide base, etc., is loose. Also, it is possible that the belt did not mesh properly when it was attached, so please re-tighten the belt.

About daily inspection

Please pay attention to the following items for daily inspection of the belt.

  1. 1. Is the belt mounting tension extremely low? The belt mounting tension will drop slightly due to the familiarity of the pulley within a few hours after operation. After mounting, please rotate the belt about 10 times, let it fit in, and then stretch it with the specified tension. There is no need to re-tension after that. Re-tensioning the timing belt may result in poor engagement and shorten the belt lifespan.
  2. 2. Are there any cracks on the back of the belt?
  3. 3. Are there any cracks in the teeth of the belt?
  4. 4. Is the cloth on the bottom of the belt between the teeth worn to expose the rubber layer or core wire?
  5. 5. Is there a wear or damage in the end face of the belt due to rubbing against the flange?
  6. 6. Is the belt meandering significantly when traveling? In the case of forward rotational or reverse rotational operation, the belt may move in the pulley, but this is not a malfunction.
  7. 7. Is there water or oil on the belt?
  8. 8. Is the foundation loose?
  9. 9. Is there rust on the tooth surface or flange of the pulley?
  10. 10. Isn't it noisier than usual?

As mentioned above, please check at the time of inspection.
