Frequently asked question (FAQ)

Question: Why does the flange drop during use of a timing pulley?
Answer: The function of the flange is to prevent production accidents caused by deviation and drop of the timing belt. Therefore, the flange drops mainly because it is squeezed off by the timing belt that has deviated for a long time. We recommend that the customer regularly check the condition of the timing belt of the equipment to avoid its deviation.
Question: Why does the timing pulley has no threaded hole?
Answer: If you have requirements for fixing screws, we recommend that you choose a timing pulley with the shaft hole specification P (round hole + threaded hole) or N·C (keyway hole + threaded hole).
Question: What should be done if there is jitter during use of a timing belt?
Answer: Readjust the tension of the timing pulley. Generally, the belt runs unstably due to excessive shaft spacing and insufficient tension.
Question: Why cannot be the threaded hole of a MISUMI aluminum timing pulley locked tightly?
Answer: As the aluminum material is relatively soft, slippage may occur if the tightening force is too large during locking. We recommend that the customer stops tightening once an obstruction is felt.
Question: How to fix a timing pulley when the shaft hole specification is H (round hole)?
Answer: Generally, H (round hole) can be used only after additional processing. If you need a product that can be directly fixed and used, please choose MISUMI P (round hole + threaded hole) or N (keyway hole + threaded hole) specifications.
Question: What does the number in the timing pulley S2M, S3M, P2M, P3M, T5, T10, 2GT, 3GT, etc. mean?
Answer: It mainly represents the tooth pitch of the belt, that is, the distance between two adjacent teeth. They are also the tooth profile models in the timing belt industry.
Question: How to choose a timing belt after selecting a timing pulley?
Answer: First, the series must be matched. For example, the timing belts of S2M, S3M, and S5M can only match the timing pulleys of S2M, S3M, and S5M. Then, select the timing belt with an width corresponding to the ones indicated in the timing pulley specifications. Finally, select the needed perimeter.
Question: What does the number in the timing pulley S2M, S3M, P2M, P3M, T5, T10, 2GT, 3GT, etc. mean?
