Fans - Technical Information

Fan Selection Method

1. Calculation of Required Airflow for Cooling

2. Selecting a Fan

Using the airflow calculated with the above equation, generally select a fan with 1.5 to 2 times the required airflow.

Select a size with maximum airflow of 1.70 (m3/min) or more, which will fit within equipment, from the catalog.

Fan Mounting Method

There are two types of fan mounts: with or without ribs.
Note that DC fan resin frame products come in two types: frame mounts with ribs and those without them.
When screw-fixing the resin frame DC fan without rib type, fix it to one flange.

2nd Digit Content Protection Degree
0 No protection Not protected.
1 Protection against dripping water Dripping water shall have no harmful effect.
2 Protection against dripping water at a 15° angle Vertically dripping water shall have no harmful effect when tilted at an angle up to 15° from normal mounting position.
3 Protection against spraying water Water falling as a spray at an angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.
4 Protection against splashing water Water splashing from any direction shall have no harmful effect.
5 Protection against jetting water Water directly jetting from any direction shall have no harmful effect.
6 Protection against waves Waves or water powerfully and directly jetting from any direction shall have no harmful effect.
7 Protection against immersion in water Immersion in water at the regulated pressure and time shall have no harmful effect.
8 Protection against deep immersion in water Applies to continuous immersion in accordance with conditions regulated by the manufacturer.
Refers as a general rule to totally sealed structures.
Usage Precautions
  • Since the fan motor uses precision ball bearings, take care in handling so as to avoid impacts.
  • Dropping it, knocking it over, or applying impact may cause damage leading to abnormal noise or decreased lifetime.
  • Always ground the AC fan ground wire. (Otherwise, electric shock may result)
  • Make sure the wiring is correct. (Otherwise, fire or electric shock may result)
  • Do not touch the blades during operation. (Otherwise, injury may result)
  • Turn the power OFF if fire, smoke, or abnormal noise is emitted during operation. (Otherwise, fire or electric shock may result)
  • Never disassemble or modify the product. (Otherwise, fire or electric shock may result)
  • When cleaning, do not use volatile organic solvents such as thinner, alcohol, or benzine. (Otherwise, damage or discoloration may result)
  • Do not use in an environment exposed to volatile organic solvents or corrosive gases, etc. (Otherwise, damage may result)
  • When touching the rotating parts with fingers or objects, mount a finger guard, etc.
  • When mounting the finger guard and filter kit, install properly so that they do not come into contact with the blade.
  • Do not damage, tug, or apply excess stress to the lead wire.
Drip-proof DC Fan (IP56 Type)
  • Although the protection grade is IP56, as it is not completely waterproof, do not use it in an environment where there is a large amount of mist or water vapor. (Otherwise, damage may result)
