Torsion Springs

Torsion springs are a type of wire spring. They are springs that receive a twisting moment around the coil. The shape of torsion spring ends is determined by the mounting location and method, enabling selection of 90-, 135- or 180-degree arm angles. Unlike compression springs and tension springs, torsion springs can reduce the design space and labor. Torsion springs can be classified primarily into close-wound and pitch-wound types. When selecting a torsion spring, it's important to carefully check the free length, average coil diameter and spring constant to select the right model for the usage environment or application. But when selecting models, note that different manufacturers define free length differently.
